Shenequa D. Crockett
Shenequa D. Crockett, a DeSoto, Texas native, is the Artist Relations Coordinator of the Mesa Performance Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona. Crockett received her undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts & Speech Communications from Clark Atlanta University (CAU) in Atlanta, Georgia. She also holds a Master's degree in Leadership and Management from Dallas Baptist University (DBU) in Dallas, Texas.
While at CAU, Ms. Crockett worked with elite political figures such as: Senator John Lewis, Jessie Jackson, and Bernice King; advocating community awareness against police brutality and registering young adults to vote.
After completing her degree, Crockett became very active with the City of Atlanta through a non-profit organization called, ArtPortunity Knocks (APK). As a mentor and educator, she challenged students with the fundamentals of lifestyle skills and created lasting peer mentoring groups that focused on character building and social awareness.
In 2018, she was selected to represent the City of DeSoto, Texas in the National Forum for Black Public Administrators Mentor Program. Crockett created and directed a documentary about her extensive eight month research project on Senior Citizens who suffer with Mental Illness. Upon completion, Crockett was chosen by her peers to represent their class at the NFBPA National Conference in Cleveland, Ohio as the keynote speaker.
Currently, Crockett serves as an active board member for the Central Arizona chapter of the NFBPA. Her future aspiration is to become an Artistic Director of a distinguished and professional performance arts venue.
